Most people associate yoga with physical contortions, but what the word really refers to is when the "small self merges with the universal self" or in other words, "when individual consciousness merges with the universal consciousness".
When we operate from our true nature, which is made up of love, caring and sharing with one and all, then that is called yoga. Our true nature is to love and share our totality with everyone. Look at the trees; they are giving all the time. Look at the sun, the moon, the rain and the flowers. Their nature is to give and so is ours. Somehow we forget about this and start identifying with various roles we play in our life like "I am a businessman, a banker, a mother, a wife, an architect, a father, a director..." We get trapped in this identification and think it is so real that we forget who we really are. We are sheer energy, consciousness or spirit or God or whatever you may call it. And when this pure energy merges with universal energy it is called yoga.
So, what has yoga got to do with richness and wealth? If you look at it closely, money is actually a form of energy. And money is associated with Laxmi -- who is as much a concept as a deity. But first, there are three forces in the world -- creation, maintenance and destruction (recreation). In the Indian tradition they are represented as Brahma, Vishnu and Shiva. To create something you need knowledge, associated with Brahma and Saraswati, to maintain something you need money, associated with Vishnu and Laxmi, and to recreate something you need power associated with Shiva and Shakti.
"Once you truly delve into your inner self and understand yourself completely, the clearer your outer world objectives and ambitions will be."
Aligning with the consciousness of Lakshmi means understanding that material possessions are not just things to be enjoyed; they are manifestations of a divine energy that must also be honoured. And honouring Lakshmi means we must live ethically, respect our family responsibilities and attend to the welfare of our communities. True prosperity cannot be achieved when we have more than our share at the expense of others. We should respect the living energy of the earth, which is the concrete form of Lakshmi herself.
Another part of becoming rich is the "law of attraction". This means that you attract whatever it is that your mind is clear and specific about. Remember this wonderful law works both ways - for the things we want and what we don't want. Most people are clear about what they don't want and that is why they somehow attract just that. "I don't want to be sick" they worry but they find sickness all around. "I don't want to be poor," we think and we are surrounded by poverty. There are few people who are very clear on what they want. Instead they focus their energies on what they don't want and end up standing in their own way.
There is a principal in the universe which says whatever you want give it and you will have more of it. If you want love, give love and you will get love 100-fold. If you want money, the same logic applies. If we practice this in a structured format we will very quickly see our business increase effortlessly. All this just by making sure that people around us are also very rich. The clearer we are of our own thoughts, the more we will attract what we desire. The more organised, the more time we feel we have for anything we wish to do the more of it we will attract. This is a simple and systematic science. Start exploring how going inwards will get you more and more outwards. Once you truly delve into your inner self and understand yourself completely, the clearer your outer world objectives and ambitions will be. If you are inwardly rich you will be outwardly rich.
