Author and columnist Shobhaa De on Friday stirred up a controversy when she implied in one of her tweets that Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj was using Twitter excessively.
De tweeted:
Sushma Swaraj : Resolution for 2017 - Keep calm and stop tweeting.
— Shobhaa De (@DeShobhaa) January 13, 2017
Unsurprisingly, she was slammed by the Twitterati who cited the fact that Swaraj has regularly been using the social media platform to help distressed Indians abroad.
Twitterati went all out in defence of Swaraj with tweets such as:
@DeShobhaa I really dont understand why u have problem with Shushma Swaraj? Let her express share support talk help anyone and anybody

Earlier this month, Swaraj had responded to a slew of requests on Twitter from sailors who are stuck in merchant ships at Ajman in the United Arab Emirates. The MEA had contacted the captains of the two vessels, ship owners, port authorities and the Government. However, recently she threatened Amazon officials that she will revoke their visas if they didn't apologise for showcasing a Indian flag-printed doormat on their website.
