22-Year-Old Man Arrested In Bengaluru For Harassing Girls And Asking Them To 'Hug Him'

A 22-year-old man was arrested by the Bangalore City Police for harassing and stalking two girls, one of whom was a minor.

The man accosted the two girls in separate incidents, reportedly asking them to "give him a hug". In the first instance, he targeted a college student near Bengaluru's Sadashivnagar locality. Later, that same evening, he harassed a school student on her way home. Once the girl raised an alarm, the man was thrashed by passersby and, in a bid to escape, left his motorcycle behind.

Both girls filed their complaints with the police on the same day and the police managed to nab the offender with the help of eyewitness accounts and the motorcycle's vehicle number as seen in CCTV footage.

According to reports, the man has been identified as Manikantha, a resident of Muneshwara block in Vyalikaval. He works as a construction labourer and is also supposed to be a drug addict who often harasses women.

He has been booked under various sections of the POCSO Act and also under Section 354 (assault or criminal force on woman with intent to outrage her modesty).
