The news of Hrithik Roshan and Sussanne Khan's divorce, which broke in December 2013, was deeply heartbreaking to several of the couple's fans.
After all, Hrithik and Sussanne's was a teenage romance that resulted in a fairytale wedding and two beautiful kids.
In an episode of Koffee with Karan where the couple appeared together, Hrithik even said that she's her 'soulmate' and that they were 'destined to be together.'
Cut to December 2013.
Hrithik released a statement that his wife had decided to leave him. In a heartfelt Facebook post, he said, "This is my greatest tribute to love. Sussanne is and always will be the love of my life for the rest of my life. If her smiles are brighter without me, my love for her must accomplish that."
Several theories of what led to their separation did the rounds, including one that involved Hrithik's past infidelities. But the couple chose to maintain a dignified silence.
It's been over two years and the couple continues to remain friends with each other, even spending festivals and birthdays together with their children, Hrehaan and Hridhaan.
As Hrithik celebrates his 42nd birthday, Sussanne posted a picture of the couple, calling it, "Happiest Souls Are The Prettiest"
