The desperate search for actress Kareena Kapoor Khan's mobile number led a 26-year-old 'fan' to hack into her private income tax account details. The man, who is stationed in Chhattisgarh as a paramilitary trooper, even filed Kapoor's IT return, hoping to get her mobile number in the receipt.
"The accused, a central government official, also files IT returns for colleagues," an officer investigating the case told Indian Express. "He knew that in most cases when IT returns are filed, one gets the mobile number of the person in the receipt. He was hoping to get the mobile number of the actress by filing her returns so that he could talk to her once as he is a big fan of her."
The man has reportedly been identified as Manish Tiwari, and has been arrested for impersonation and under sections of the information technology act. According to reports, he was searching for Kapoor's mobile number online when he found her PAN card details and used it to hack into her IT account last August.
He reportedly filed her IT return and also paid her quarterly tax. When Kapoor's chartered accountant Prakash Thakkar found that her IT return had been filed and the password for her account had been changed, he reportedly became suspicious and lodged a police complaint on 1 October last year.
