Today India is the fastest growing nation in the world. Close your eyes and pick any sector, you will find India excelling in it while giving tough competition to the most developed nations in the world. Today, any Indian who is staying abroad doesn't have to feel ashamed of belonging to a "third world country". Instead one is proud to be called an Indian. Thanks to the Make in India initiative, every other country in the world is at least thinking about the manufacturing possibilities of India. On the global platform India has reached a stature where developed nations like the US, France and Germany supporting India's bit for a permanent seat in the United Nations.
However, India is beset by something that can destroy it from within. Lack of integrity. The last few months have been distressing for almost every Indian. The unfortunate events that have taken place force us think, are our fundamentals so weak that they can be so easily shaken by anti-India elements? Is this the India that Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel and Bhagat Singh fought and died for?
But let us also not forget that the British ruled over us for 200 years. How did that become possible? Were we so vulnerable to external threats that any foreigner could come along, break us and rule over us? No. The British ruled over us because they knew that they could break India's integrity, turn Indians against each other and take advantage of the unrest to rule people. Right now, exactly the same thing happening.
Some anti-India elements know that they can play with India's democracy. They know the sensitive and vulnerable issues that pose a threat to India's democracy and that's exactly where they are attacking. If one sees the recent events, be it the Dadri lynching, the suicide of Rohith Vemula, Bollywood's take on intolerance or the recent uproar at the JNU campus, all have revolved around issues like democracy, intolerance, religion or freedom of speech. These issues are bound to create instability, violence and difference of opinions among Indians. They know that misuse of these words can break peoples' integrity from within and turn each of us against each other.
Sadly, most of us are taking the bait. Instead of Indians coming together and solving the issue, we are simply taking sides and playing the blame game. What we fail to understand is that we are mere puppets of those anti-India elements who have engineered whatever the incident in question is for petty political gains. Words like democracy and tolerance were included in India's Constitution to empower Indians. But no one guessed that the word 'democracy' would become a tool to give voice to anti-India statements. If an institution or a body or a group of people thinks injustice has been done, then they must protest. Yet, they must keep in mind the limitations they are bounded with from the Constitution. Respecting the Constitution is what differentiates Indians from anti-Indians.
Petty politics, blame games and violence will cut stall India's trajectory. Working towards a unified India will lead us to true progress. India will not achieve its dream growth when its GDP touches double figures-- it will achieve true growth it stands as ONE.
Our youth need to understand that politics is all about retaining power, dominance and rule. And in order to do that, politicians will appropriate any word out of the Constitution and use it as a tool against us. Now, it is up to us to whether to support them or not. Whatever decision you make, think about the repercussions your decision might have on your country.
