Have you ever heard someone say "Oh come on, anyone can do that. That isn't a big deal..."?
Fair chances are that you have, since most of us are surrounded by people who keep saying such things. They don't appreciate those who possess extraordinary skills or do earnest tasks, preferring instead to take them down a notch or two. They try to make others feel unworthy and inferior by stating that "Anyone can do what you're doing, and what you do doesn't count."
We do something special and they remind us that we're ordinary. We try to rise, and they criticise us. We resolve to take a leap, and they try to stop us by reminding us that we'll fall.
The word "can" is cheap
Great successes and revolutions don't care about "can", and neither do determined dreamers. The word "can" has no value of its own and derives its strength from the steps that follow it.
The world is full of losers who could have, but didn't.
The world is full of losers who could have, but didn't.
They're the people who are filled with regrets of not trying, not using their opportunities, and the potential they once had.
If you can say that you "can" then count on your blessings as many people can't say that.
Several people lack the capabilities, resources, and skills required to succeed. Yet, some of them don't allow their limitations to stop them.
Such people somehow find a way to turn their intentions into reality and keep striving to achieve what they aim for, regardless of obstructions and obstacles.
Mere capabilities don't decide success
The front-runners and legends rise from the crowds of billions of other people like them, setting themselves apart from the rest.
People have enormous potential within themselves which can make them do miracles, they're superheroes with powers that can save the world, and most of them already have what it takes. In fact, they're all capable.
But they fail to be extraordinary because their unwillingness obstructs their ability. They simply cease their attempts.
Everyone wants to become extraordinary but only a few are willing to do the ordinary things that give a start to their journey.
To most people, starting small is shameful, doing average chores hurts their self-esteem, and they don't understand the value of determination that leads to all great deeds.
They fail to realise that greatness starts with simplicity.
The successful people who have been inspiring the generations weren't gods or magicians but simple people who were willing to do ordinary tasks that are shunned, and who embraced the drudgery that is often undervalued.
Everyone wants to become extraordinary but only a few are willing to do the ordinary things that give a start to their journey.
They prospered because they did what everyone else could but didn't. It's not potential alone that decides success, but also intentions and the grit to follow through.
The word "can" merely signifies that you're capable, but doesn't promise that you'll do what you're capable of.
A simple truth is, everyone can, but not everyone will.
Your dreams are always welcome in the world
Most people give up even before giving their first shot, some of them stay back because they find themselves incapable of surviving struggles. Then they become failures and quit without putting in the necessary effort.
The sad part? The same people revel in throwing water on the hopes and dreams of others. They moan of how following their dreams brought them misery and sow the seeds of fear, pessimism and distrust. They ultimately create an environment which makes dreaming seem impossible.
Their lies are enough to push you into the dark corners where hope dies.
The truth is that the world has enough space for new dreams, and it'll even welcome yours with open arms. Although you might not become the next multimillionaire or the finest pop star, I assure you that there's a place for you and your dreams.
There's no need to snatch each another's bread for survival - there's an abundance of opportunities. All you have to do is start, hustle, and persist until you become deserving, and then unlock what's already yours.
You only fail if you don't try. And by doing that, you give yourself a regret that lasts for a lifetime.
Don't hold yourself back.
One huge mistake you can make in life is if you block the path of your feelings when you're all set to go.
The little thoughts that fill up your mind, or the hope that stays within you signifies your intense desire to succeed. They slowly inspire you to act to realise your dreams.
[Some] people revel in throwing water on the hopes and dreams of others... Their lies are enough to push you into the dark corners where hope dies.
Your beliefs are delicate and take no time to break. The moment you decide to hold yourself back, all your gathered strength vanishes at once.
Don't obstruct your own path, allow yourself to go with the flow, and see where it takes you. Move ahead to own your place by doing what you want to do and what you can do.
When you aren't doing what you can, you're just showing your weakness by stating that you've got within you all that it takes, but you don't have the willpower to overcome your fears and doubts to take your first step.
Don't join the crowd which haunts the dreamers with its failures. You deserve better. Instead, win the place you've been craving by putting in all that you can.
If you say that you can, then you already know that you're capable. And when you're capable, what can keep you from achieving your dreams?
Either you remain a silent spectator who keeps wondering about how some dreams come true, or you fearlessly step out to turn your dreams into a reality.
You won't know whether you can succeed until you try.
